Competition: Europe Europa League
Competition: Thu 17.February
Match begins: 20:00 (UTC)
Venue: Estádio Do Dragão (50033 seats)

The first of two encounters in the Europa League Knockout Round Play-offs, as the hometeam Porto will try to edge Lazio in their own ballpark.

These teams have little in common geographically as Lazio have to travel 2300 kilometers to reach their opponents. The trip home will be especially long if the match ends in defeat.

Both teams should be fairly well rested for this game, as they have had some quiet days to prepare. Hopefully this will translate into lots of action on the pitch.

Porto form and stats

Last season their Champions League adventure ended in the group stage.

Porto have been outstanding at home so far in the Primeira Liga with 10 wins, 1 draw and only 0 losses.

Porto drew their last game, also a home match. Sporting CP was the opponent, 2-2 the score. The versatile forward Taremi outshone all teammates in that game and got a match rating of 8.34 out of 10. Taremi scored one goal, served one assist, hit three key passes and dribled past the opponent 1 of 1 times.

Before that match, a Primeira Liga win away at Arouca.

There's a new game coming up fairly quickly for Porto as they are travelling to their away game against Moreirense in the Primeira Liga. That match is three days after this one.

Porto are an "over 2,5 goals" team alone here at Estádio Do Dragão in their league games, having scored an impressive 29 goals in 11 matches. Porto have only conceded 8 from their league home games. For more goal stats, check the Statistics tab above.

Lazio form and stats

The traveling awayteam has defeated Olympique Marseille, Galatasaray and Lokomotiv Moskva in order to reach knockout round play-offs of Europa League. They also participated in Champions League last season. This ended in the 8th finals, when Bayern München drew the shortest straw.

As the visiting team in Serie A matches, Lazio have produced an overall stat of 5-2-6 so far. Total Europa League statistics for Lazio: 2 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss.

Did you know that the longest clean sheet streak is 1816 minutes? This record is held by Mazaropi when he played in Vasco da Gama. Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is eager to challenge this, with his 383 minutes of keeping balls out from the net.

Impressive finishing from Zaccagni (2) and Immobile secured the home win 3-0 against Bologna in their previous game. The attacker Zaccagni got a match rating of 8.73 in that game. Zaccagni scored two goals, hit one key pass and had 28 successful passes (of 32 total).

The schedule is very tough for Lazio now as they have to travel again shortly after this match. A Serie A game at Udinese is waiting in only three days.

The travelling fans enjoy Lazio's attacking play in away games, having scored 21 goals in 13 league matches away. Lazio have conceded 23 goals in these games.

Read more about Europa League

The UEFA Europa League, abbreviated as UEL and commonly referred to as just the Europa League, is an annual football club competition organised by UEFA. It is the second-tier competition for football clubs in Europa, beneath the UEFA Champions League in value and importance. Teams qualify through their performance in their national leagues and cup competitions. Some teams qualify from the Champions League; more precisely the teams who are knocked out in the playoff qualifying round and the third-place finishers of the group stage. The winner of the Europa League qualifies for the Champions League in their next competitive season.
