Real Madrid form and stats

Last season, Real Madrid's Champions League journey ended in the 8th finals against Manchester City.

Real Madrid have performed here at Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano this season with 11 wins from 16 La Liga matches. Some points have been lost, as they have drawn 2 games and lost 3. This match is a Champions League match, and the hometeam has the total statistics 6 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses in this competition. Madrid has a nice streak going on as they have played 13 consecutive leaguegames without losing (regardless of home/away). They are keen to extend their tally, a streak that began after the Levante defeat 87 days ago.

Nothing to worry about in defence for Madrid, as their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has completely shut out the opponents for 300 minutes in the La Liga.

Real Madrid drew their last game, also a home match. Real Betis was the opponent, 0-0 the score. In the preceding match a 3-0 victory visiting Cadiz.

The bookmakers consider this a fairly even contest. One could say only the home advantage separates the teams. It could be relevant to look at how Madrid have performed in matches similar to this (as small favourites). Our database has found five matches with the results: Won three, drawn one and lost one.

There's a new fixture coming up fairly quickly for Real Madrid, as the La Liga home game vs Osasuna is only four days away.

The Madrid fans have had their share of opportunities to cheer home goals this season, having seen 27 goals in 16 league matches. From these home matches, Real Madrid have conceded only 10 goals.

Chelsea form and stats

They also participated in Champions League last season. This ended in the 8th finals, when Bayern München drew the shortest straw.

As the visiting team in Premier League matches, Chelsea have produced an overall stat of 9-4-4 so far. The mentioned statistics is only from the league, looking at the Champions League stats, they have 7 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss both home and away. The away team travel with confidence. Not since the Leicester City game have they lost an away game, meaning Chelsea has taken points from seven away matches in a row.

Chelsea have succeeded in guarding their own goal lately, led by their goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. It's been 207 minutes since they last conceded in Premier League.

Chelsea play their second away game in a row, but can be confident going into this one after the 1-0 victory visiting West Ham United. Ahead of that game was the 0-0 draw at home against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

As mentioned above, this is an open game with no clear favourite. We have found four similar matches played by Chelsea in our archives, and the results are: two wins for Chelsea, two draws and zero defeats.

The visitors are returning home after this fixture, hosting Fulham in just four days.

Chelsea have a decent goal production going in their away games, although not fantastic. In 17 league away games 24 goals have been scored. Chelsea are defending well in their away games, having conceded only 15 times in 17 matches. For more goal statistics, check out the Statistics tab above. There's been improvement defensively lately, as only 0 of these goals has been conceded in their last 3 away matches.

The UEFA Champions League is the major international club football tournament in Europe. The competition begins already in late June and lasts for almost a year, ending with the final played in late May or early June. After several qualifying rounds the group stage is where the “true” Champions League begins for many viewers. Eight groups with four teams each battle through six rounds to qualify for the knock-out phase. Then a round of 16, quarterfinals and then semifinals needs to be won before a place in the final is secured.
