Chelsea form and stats

Overall Premier League stats at home this season for Chelsea are 9-3-5 (wins-draw-losses). Ever since the Manchester United game Chelsea has been unbeatable here at Stamford Bridge producing four straight wins.

A nice win for Chelsea last time playing, versus Watford. That was also a home game and the match ended 3-0 with Willian, Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud scoring for the victors. Prior to that was the away defeat visiting West Ham United (2-3).

The home team are expected to win this game about three out of four times, according to the bookmaker odds. When checking the database for Chelsea home games with this odds we find 15 games with a similar winning chance. Resulting in ten wins, three draws and two defeats. Looking at the victories, seven matches were won by at least two goals.

A decent goal production from Chelsea in their home games so far, with 27 goals from 17 league matches. Chelsea have only conceded 16 from their league home games. For more goal stats, check the Statistics tab above.

Watford form and stats

The hunting on away grounds haven’t been very fruitful for Watford so far with only 10 points returning home. The records show 2-4-11 (win-draw-lose). Bitter travels for Watford as they have lost four games in a row away from home. The last time they avoided an away-from-home loss was the Brighton & Hove Albion match. Three has not been a lucky number for Watford as they have been defeated three times in a row since the Leicester City match.

Watford play their second straight away game, having lost the previous one 0-3 to Chelsea (placed 4th). A 1-3 loss hosting Southampton before that.

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster had a great day against Chelsea, but despite making six saves the loss could not be avoided.

We have done a similar check as we did with the hometeam, looking up recent matches where Watford played away with similar odds. This revealed five games. The visitors overcame the odds to win zero times, zero were draws and the home team won as expected five times.

The visitors have scored 11 goals from 17 away games in the league, an average of less than one per game. Watford's defence is not exactly unbeatable as they have conceded 31 goals from these trips.

Head 2 Head

This is not the first time this season these parties meet, as the history books show this recent fixture: Chelsea - Watford 3-0. Numbers for the last ten meetings between these two teams are: seven wins for Chelsea, two draws and one win for Watford. Over 2,5 goals: nine times; under 2,5 goals: one game.
