The Liga I, also spelled Liga 1, is the top level of the football pyramid in Romania. It is also known as the Liga 1 Betano due to its sponsor. It has 14 teams playing 26 fixtures each to create a league table for the regular season. The top six teams then play a championship round, the last eight play a relegation round.
