National cups are something special for many teams and supporters. Today's match will decide whether it's Skála or Hoyvik that keep their silverware dream alive.
It's no vacation for neither Skála nor Hoyvik as both were in action only a few days ago. Expect some tired legs on the pitch and/or possibly some changes to the lineups.
Skála form and stats
Skála was eliminated in the semi-finals last season in the Faroe Islands Cup. Víkingur was too strong.The home fans haven’t been spoiled with victories in the Meistaradeildin this season. Skála have only managed 0 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses from their games here. All in all it has been a very rough period for Skála who hasn’t won a league-game in their last eleven attempts. Their previous win was against EB / Streymur, 255 days ago. It's been an uphill battle for Skála in their home games for quite some time now, as four matches in a row are lost here. Not since the AB game have they avoided the disappointment of defeat.
Skála's previous game was also a home match, the defeat 0-4 versus Víkingur. Preceding that match was the home Meistaradeildin game against HB that was lost 1-3.
As you see from the result above, Skála suffered greatly in their last game. Thankfully the team has a new chance to prove themselves in this one. The game against Víkingur was basically lost in the first half (0-4) and the second half was more of a formality.
Skála are traveling soon after this match as the Meistaradeildin match at ÍF awaits in four days.
Skála has huge difficulties finding the net and are scoring on average only once per two home matches in the league: 3 goals from 6 games. Defensively there's plenty of potential for improvement as Skála have allowed the opposition to score 16 goals here.
Hoyvik form and stats
Hoyvik was sent out of Faroe Islands Cup in the preliminary round last season.The visitors are W0-D1-L3 on the road this term. That's in the 1. Deild. With the Hoyvik losing streak of four defeats in a row, regardless of arena, optimism is low and sinking. The pressure to perform on the road is increasing on Á. Johansen, the Hoyvik manager, as the last three away games were defeats.
Hoyvik might have something to prove in this game as they lost at home in their previous match. KI II proved too strong as Hoyvik slumped to a 2-3 defeat in front of their own fans at Gundadalur.
