Competition: Wed 12.Jul
Match begins: 16:00 (UTC)
Venue: Bolt Arena (10770 seats)

It's game one of two in the Champions League as HJK host Larne. This is a 1st Qualifying Round fixture played over two legs and nothing will be decided tonight.

1 - 2 - 2 with 4-4. What does this mean? Well, these are the statistics for Larne when playing on artifical turf like they will do today. Wins - draws- losses and goals scored-conceded. Larne play their home games on grass so that's why we provide these numbers.

It's quite the trip for Larne when visiting HJK as the cities are 3400 kilometers apart.

HJK have less rest than Larne in this fixture, as the hosts were involved in a Veikkausliiga game only four days ago. Thankfully the previous game, versus Lahti, was also a home game here at Bolt Arena. The away team is better rested.

HJK form and stats

Last season, HJK's Champions League journey ended in the 2nd qualifying round against Viktoria Plzen.

The home supporters can't complain about results here at Bolt Arena as HJK have scored 14 goals to get 17 points from 8 games. The overall stats in the Veikkausliiga are 5-2-1 (wins-draws-losses).

The HJK crowd went home unhappy last time out, seeing their beloved players lose 0-1 to Lahti here at Bolt Arena.

Preceding that game was the away draw at Honka that finished 1-1.

HJK have proved capable of finding the net in their games here at Bolt Arena with 14 goals in 8 league matches. Defensively HJK have been outstanding, conceding less than half a goal on average per home game in the league (3 in 8 games). For more goal stats, check the Statistics tab above.

Larne form and stats

This match can not go any worse than the last one, a Charity Shield home defeat versus Crusaders with 0-2 on the scoreboard.

Preceding that game, the 0-3 loss visiting Coleraine's place.

The UEFA Champions League is the major international club football tournament in Europe. The competition begins already in late June and lasts for almost a year, ending with the final played in late May or early June. After several qualifying rounds the group stage is where the “true” Champions League begins for many viewers. Eight groups with four teams each battle through six rounds to qualify for the knock-out phase. Then a round of 16, quarterfinals and then semifinals needs to be won before a place in the final is secured.
