International cups are a highlight for most teams. Both Chelsea and Salzburg are looking forward to this Champions League fight to decide who advances from the Group Stage.

It's time to recharge all electronic entertainment devices for Salzburg, who are travelling more than 1200 kilometers to play this game.

Salzburg could be less fresh than the hosts in this fixture, as they played a Tipico Bundesliga game only four sleeps ago. That game was also an away game, at Ried. It will be interesting to see if they are fully ready and rested for this match, and/or if some changes in the lineup is necessary.

Chelsea form and stats

Chelsea was eliminated in the quarter-finals last season in the Champions League. Real Madrid was too strong.

Seven points from three Premier League home games is a great start for Chelsea, who are hoping to build on that form here at Stamford Bridge.

The fans are hoping that Chelsea will fight back in this fixture, putting things right after the 0-1 away defeat in the Champions League fixture against Dinamo Zagreb. Mount (midfield) was the top team player in that game with a rating of 7.81/10. Mount hit two key passes and had 63 successful passes (of 69 total).

Before that, Chelsea had a Premier League home game versus West Ham United which ended with a victory 2-1.

The home team are expected to win this game about three out of four times, according to the bookmaker odds. When checking the database for Chelsea home games with this odds we find 10 games with a similar winning chance. Resulting in 5 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat. Looking at the victories, 3 matches were won by at least two goals.

Another home game is coming up fairly shortly for the hosts, as Liverpool are coming to town in four days.

4 goals have been conceded.

Salzburg form and stats

Salzburg was sent out of Champions League in the 8th finals last season, when FC Bayern München turned out to be too strong.

Playing away, Salzburg have won 3 games, drawn 0 and suffered 1 defeat in the Tipico Bundesliga this season.

Did you know that the longest clean sheet streak is 1816 minutes? This record is held by Mazaropi when he played in Vasco da Gama. Salzburg goalkeeper Philipp Köhn is eager to challenge this, with his 360 minutes of keeping balls out from the net.

Two away games in a row for Salzburg, whose coach Jaissle could celebrate last time after the win against Ried. Which player has scored three matches in a row for the away team? The correct answer is Okafor and that is impressive stuff! Bernardo was the top performer of the team in that game with a match score of 8.13. The defender Bernardo won 6 of 9 duels.

One game before, 1-1 at home hosting Milan in the Champions League.

After this away game Salzburg return home for a Tipico Bundesliga game against Rapid Wien. That game is only four sleeps after this.

Salzburg are defending well in their away games, having conceded only 2 times in 4 matches. For more goal statistics, check out the Statistics tab above.

Read more about Champions League

The UEFA Champions League is the major international club football tournament in Europe. The competition begins already in late June and lasts for almost a year, ending with the final played in late May or early June. After several qualifying rounds the group stage is where the “true” Champions League begins for many viewers. Eight groups with four teams each battle through six rounds to qualify for the knock-out phase. Then a round of 16, quarterfinals and then semifinals needs to be won before a place in the final is secured.
