Get ready for the return leg of the Champions League 1st Qualifying Round between CFR Cluj and Pyunik. This should be an interesting match and this preview contains everything you need to know. Read on!

These teams have little in common geographically as Pyunik have to travel 2600 kilometers to reach their opponents. The trip home will be especially long if the match ends in defeat.

The hosts CFR Cluj saw competitive action as recent as four days ago, playing in the Super Cup. Thankfully the previous game, versus Sepsi, was also a home game here at Stadionul CMC. The away team is better rested.

CFR Cluj form and stats

Last season, CFR Cluj's Champions League journey ended in the 3rd qualifying round against Young Boys.

Cluj's previous match was also a home event, the defeat 1-2 vs Sepsi (in Super Cup).

Some members of the home team might already be thinking of their next match, the Liga 1 game versus Rapid Bucuresti in only three days. This game is also played here at Stadionul CMC.

Pyunik form and stats

Pyunik's mission in Europa League last season failed in the 3rd qualifying round.

Pyunik's travelling support has been rewarded for their time and money so far this season, having witnessed Pyunik collect 39 points from their 16 away matches in the Premier League. 12 victories and 3 draws have created these points (and only 1 defeat).

Pyunik delivered a 0-0 draw playing at home against CFR Cluj in their previous game; a Champions League fixture.

A 1-1 draw at Alashkert's stadium before that.

Pyunik are not goal shy away from home in the league, finding the net 28 times in 16 away games so far. They concede less than a goal on average per away game (10 so far).

Head 2 Head

Pyunik - Cluj 0-0 was the score in these sides' previous head to head fixture, earlier this season.

Read more about Champions League

The UEFA Champions League is the major international club football tournament in Europe. The competition begins already in late June and lasts for almost a year, ending with the final played in late May or early June. After several qualifying rounds the group stage is where the “true” Champions League begins for many viewers. Eight groups with four teams each battle through six rounds to qualify for the knock-out phase. Then a round of 16, quarterfinals and then semifinals needs to be won before a place in the final is secured.
