Champions League betting and spectator preview: Atalanta and Young Boys meet at Gewiss Stadium to measure strength and learn who makes it to the next stage.

There’s little time for restitution or working hard at the training pitch these days, with both teams having played their last game less than four days ago.

19-14-10 (wins/draws/losses). These are the numbers for Young Boys when playing away games on grass, which is not the surface they have on their own home stadium (which has artifical turf). Their goal statistics from those 43 matches are 72-53 (scored/conceded).

Atalanta form and stats

Last season their Champions League adventure ended in the 8th finals against Real Madrid.

1 victory, 1 draw and 1 defeat. That’s what Atalanta have to build on here at Gewiss Stadium in the Serie A.

Atalanta travelled for their previous game, a trip to Inter that ended 2-2. The forward Ruslan Malinovskyi edged out all the other players in that game and received a match rating of 8.13 out of 10. Malinovskyi scored one goal, hit the woodwork once, hit four key passes and dribled past the opponent 1 of 1 times.

Previous to that game, a Serie A home match hosting Sassuolo in a game that was won 2-1.

Some members of the home team might already be thinking of their next match, the Serie A game versus Milan in only four days. This game is also played here at Gewiss Stadium.

The Atalanta fans would probably like to see some more goals scored at their own stadium in the league, the tally being 3 in 3 matches. 3 goals have been conceded.

Young Boys form and stats

Young Boys's mission in Champions League last season failed in the 3rd qualifying round.

The story so far for the visiting team on their Super League travels is 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat. Total Champions League statistics for Young Boys: 5 wins, 2 draws and 0 losses.

Young Boys had fun at their own home (Gewiss Stadium) last time out, beating St. Gallen 2-1. Felix Mambimbi and Jordan Siebatcheu scored. World class coaching! That was the thoughts of manager D. Wagner when Felix Mambimbi scored the winning goal after coming on as a substitute in the 24th minute. The attacker Felix Mambimbi got a match rating of 7.64 in that game. Mambimbi scored one goal.

Ahead of that match was the victory versus Lausanne Sport at their stadium, the result 6-1.

There might be some complaints about the fixture list from the Young manager D. Wagner as the team has another away game coming up in only four days, this time against Servette.

Young create on average more than 2,5 goals per away game (in the league) all by themselves, having scored 11 goals in 4 travels. Young Boys have conceded 6 goals in these games.

The UEFA Champions League is the major international club football tournament in Europe. The competition begins already in late June and lasts for almost a year, ending with the final played in late May or early June. After several qualifying rounds the group stage is where the “true” Champions League begins for many viewers. Eight groups with four teams each battle through six rounds to qualify for the knock-out phase. Then a round of 16, quarterfinals and then semifinals needs to be won before a place in the final is secured.
