The Austrian Football Bundesliga is the top level football league in Austria. It was founded in 1974, but there has been an Austrian league championship since 1911. Since the 1950s Austrian football has been dominated by Rapid Wien, Austria Wien and recently Red Bull Salzburg.

Each division has 16 teams for a total of 48 teams on this level. Teams only play fixtures within their division, 30 in total to create the final league table.
