A home win is expected from this fixture if the league table is anything to judge by. The Melbourne City fans are optimistic that the difference between 1st and Newcastle Jets's 12th place in the table will show on the pitch.

Insights:
  • Melbourne City have the most scored goals (55) in A-League
  • Newcastle Jets have the fewest scored goals (19) in A-League

Melbourne City have less rest than Newcastle Jets in this fixture, as the hosts were involved in a A-League game only four days ago. That game was an away game at Brisbane Roar, so at least Melbourne are thankful to return home in this one. Game on!

Newcastle Jets have a very long trip to this away game, as there's more than 1000 kilometers in distance to cover. This could prove a challenge, at least for the supporters.

Read more about A-League

The A-League is the top level of the Australian football league system. Seasons run from October to May. Ten teams play a regular season of 27 fixtures to create a league table winner and the highest placed teams qualify for a playoff. The league winner is called the “premier” while the playoff winner is the “champion”. There is no set system for relegation, unlike most leagues in the world.
