The Albanian Superliga is the top level of the football pyramid in Albania. It was founded in 1930. The current format has ten teams facing each other four times for a total of 36 matches, played from August to May. Top of the league table is the champion, while the two bottom teams are relegated.
The Albanian First Division is the second level of football in this European country. It is divided into two groups, each with ten teams. Each group first play other teams in their group twice, 18 fixtures. The top five of the league table then play a promotion round, the other half a relegation round.
The Albanian Second Division (Kategoria e Dytë) is the third tier of football in Albania. It is divided geographically into two groups, each with 14 teams. Every team play 26 fixtures to set the final league of each group. The champion of each division is promoted while second places play a promotion play-off final.
