Major League Soccer (often known simply as MLS) is the top level of football (soccer) in the United States and Canada. MLS has 24 teams divided into two conferences, Eastern and Western. Each team play 34 fixtures to decide a league table champion. The top fourteen teams then compete in playoff to crown a MLS Cup champion.
The USL Championship, formerly known as United Soccer League (USL) is the second level of league football (soccer) in the United States and Canada. The USL Championship has 36 teams divided into two conference, Eastern and Western. Nearly half the teams are reserve teams/affiliates of the biggest US clubs.
The USL League Two was formerly known as the Premier Development League (PDL). It is a development soccer league in the United States and Canada, unofficially considered to be the fourth level of football in these countries. It has eleven regional divisions with in total 72 teams.
USL League One is the third level of football in the United States and Canada. It is brand new; launched in 2019. The league currently holds ten teams but this is likely to expand. Regular season has 28 games played from March to October, followed by a playoff.
