Peru football predictions and tips: League overview

The Peruvian First Division, also known as the Primera Division or the Copa Movistar, is the top level of football in Peru. Seasons run from February to December with 18 teams playing 44 fixtures each to create a final league table. Universitario, Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal are by far the dominant winner of this league since it was founded in 1912.

The Segunda Division (also known as Liga 2) is the second highest level of football in Peru. It currently holds twelve clubs and runs a season from May to December. The season is divided into a regular phase and a playoff for promotion. One team is promoted and two teams are relegated.
