Iceland football predictions and tips: League overview

The Úrvalsdeild karla (meaning Men’s Select division) is the highest level of football in Iceland. It has also been known by the sponsorship name Pepsideild. Twelve teams play a season from April to September, each playing 22 fixtures to decide the final league table and the Icelandic champion.
The 1. deild karla (First Division for men) is also known by the sponsorship name Inkasso-deild karla. It is the second highest level of Icelandic football and has twelve teams playing 22 fixtures each. The top two in the league table are promoted, the bottom two relegated.
The 2. deild karla (Second Division for men) is the third highest tier of football in Iceland. It has twelve teams playing each other twice; 22 fixtures in total. The top two teams in the league table after the final game week earn promotion while the bottom two face relegation.
The Reykjavik Youth Cup is a pre-season football tournament played from November to April with nine teams each playing 16 fixtures. Only youth teams are allowed - U19. This is a longer youth version of the Reykjavik Tournament played in January and February by the senior teams.
